Growing up in East LA, Güero Güey faced the challenges of urban life, but he found solace and direction in music. During his high school years, he chose the path of creativity over the streets, immersing himself in the world of sound. He has mastered most brass instruments and the guitar, showcasing his versatility and passion for music.
His first foray into performing was with a mariachi band, an experience that was both formative and challenging due to his struggles with Spanish speaking. Despite being let go from the band, Güero Güey's determination never wavered. He expanded his musical horizons by joining a ska band, a punk band, and even the school orchestra, each opportunity adding a new dimension to his musical repertoire.
After high school, Güero Güey faced familial expectations to join the family construction business. However, his heart was set on music, and he bravely chose to pursue his passion, booking small gigs and performing at local venues. This decision has allowed him to develop a sound that is a combination of Southern California’s diverse musical influences.
Today, Güero Güey is an independent artist crafting music that resonates with the vibrant culture of his hometown. Güero Güey's music is a celebration of his heritage and his environment, offering listeners a unique auditory experience. While he embraces his roots, he humorously asks fans not to judge his Spanish pronunciation too harshly.
